Ref: 1076Tuesday 18 August 2026

£50,000–£65,000 | Lancaster | Hybrid Working Available

Are you an experienced Audit Manager looking for a role where you can genuinely make your mark?

We're recruiting on behalf of an established and growing accountancy practice in Lancaster that has ambitious plans for the future. With a strong pipeline of audit work and further growth ahead, this is a fantastic opportunity for someone who wants to take ownership, develop a team and play a key role in shaping the future of the audit function.

The Role

This is a key appointment within the business and will work closely with the Directors, taking ownership of the day-to-day audit function and helping to build the team around it.

You'll be given genuine autonomy to bring your ideas, improve processes and develop the audit offering. It's a role with plenty of scope to make your own mark, rather than simply stepping into an established structure.

You'll predominantly focus on audit, working with a varied portfolio of clients, while supporting the development and mentoring of the wider team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a varied portfolio of audit assignments from planning through to completion
  • Take ownership of the day-to-day audit function
  • Work closely with the Directors on the continued growth and development of the department
  • Build, develop and mentor the audit team
  • Review audit work and statutory financial statements
  • Oversee complex audit assignments, including group work where required
  • Develop strong relationships with clients and act as a senior point of contact
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, systems and ways of working
  • Support the continued growth of the audit client base
  • Contribute to the wider strategic direction of the practice
  • Help shape the structure and future development of the audit team

About You

We're looking for an experienced audit professional who is confident operating at a senior level and wants the opportunity to have genuine influence within a growing practice.

You'll ideally have:

  • ACA or ACCA qualified, or qualified by experience
  • Strong experience within audit, ideally gained within an accountancy practice
  • Experience managing audit assignments from planning through to completion
  • Strong technical knowledge and understanding of UK GAAP
  • Experience managing, mentoring or developing more junior team members
  • Strong client relationship and communication skills
  • A commercial and proactive approach
  • The confidence to work closely with Directors and business owners
  • The ability to identify opportunities and bring ideas to the table
  • The ambition to develop and grow with the business

A full UK driving licence is required as the role involves travel to client sites, including occasional overnight stays where required.

What's in it for you?

  • Salary of £55,000–£65,000
  • Hybrid working – 1 day from home per week
  • 25 days holiday plus bank holidays
  • Christmas closure in addition to your annual holiday allowance
  • Private healthcare after probation
  • Parking available
  • Professional subscriptions paid
  • Study support and ongoing CPD
  • Personal Development Plans
  • Bonus scheme following probation, linked to individual, team and business performance
  • Regular team days and opportunities to contribute to the wider direction of the business
  • A modern, welcoming working environment
  • Genuine opportunity to build and develop the audit function

This is a particularly exciting opportunity for someone who wants to take ownership, build a team and genuinely influence the direction of a growing audit function.

If you're ready for a role where you can make your mark and have a real say in what the future looks like, we'd love to hear from you.
