Are you an experienced Audit Senior looking for a role where you can take ownership of your assignments, work closely with clients and develop your career within a growing accountancy practice?

We're recruiting on behalf of an established and ambitious practice in Lancaster that is continuing to grow its audit offering. With a strong pipeline of work and ambitious plans for the future, this is an opportunity for someone who wants to play a key role in the development of the audit team.

The Role

As an Audit Senior, you'll take ownership of a varied portfolio of audit assignments, working across a range of owner-managed businesses and other organisations.

You'll have the opportunity to take responsibility for audits from planning through to completion, while also getting involved in some accounts preparation. You'll work closely with the Directors and wider team and will have plenty of scope to develop your technical skills and take on additional responsibility as the business grows.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead audit assignments from planning through to completion
  • Carry out audit fieldwork both on-site and remotely
  • Prepare and review statutory financial statements
  • Work with a varied portfolio of clients, including owner-managed businesses
  • Assist with more complex assignments, including group consolidations where required
  • Build strong relationships with clients and act as a key point of contact
  • Work closely with the Directors and Audit Manager
  • Support and mentor more junior members of the team
  • Complete some accounts preparation and other general practice work
  • Manage your own workload and ensure assignments are delivered within agreed deadlines
  • Contribute ideas and support the continued development of the audit function

About You

You'll ideally have previous audit experience within an accountancy practice and be confident taking ownership of assignments and working directly with clients.

You'll ideally have:

  • Previous experience in audit within a practice environment
  • Experience of leading audit assignments
  • Good knowledge of UK GAAP
  • Experience working with owner-managed businesses
  • Strong communication and client relationship skills
  • Good technical and analytical skills
  • The ability to work independently and manage competing priorities
  • A proactive approach and genuine interest in developing your career

ACA/ACCA qualification is desirable, but the business is open to candidates with different qualification levels depending on their experience and overall suitability for the role.

A full UK driving licence is required as the role involves travel to client sites, with occasional overnight stays where necessary.
