This is a fantastic opportunity for a CAD Engineer to join a well established commercial vehicle and trailer manufacturing company based in Darwen. They design and manufacture a wide range of trailers, platform, curtainsider and box bodies as well as carrying out a variety of conversions to commercial trucks. This position has come about as the company looks to increase design capacity highlighting exciting growth ahead.
Your new role as a CAD Engineer...
- Assess and review customer requirements providing technical support for the sales team
- Project design to ensure customer requirements are converted into effective design solutions
- Creation of bills of materials including standard and non-standard parts
- Support the procurement function with supplier selection, technical specifications and where necessary or required generating purchase orders
- Support the manufacturing departments to ensure a smooth and effective completion of the build
- Contribute towards the design activities as part of a cross functional design team in order to continually upgrade and improve the range of standard product designs
- Liaise with internal and external contacts including sales, planning, procurement, manufacturing together with customers and suppliers
About you as a CAD Engineer...
This role is ideally suited to an organised, proactive and self-motivated individual with a systematic approach to engineering design and documentation. You will have…
- Mechanical Engineering, Automotive, Motorsport, Manufacturing, degree or equivalent
- Mechanical or Production Engineering background to a minimum of HNC level
- Experience with Structural Steel, Pneumatic, Hydraulic and Electrical circuits
- Experience with Electronics PLC’s would be an advantage but not essential
- Broad design and draughting experience in mechanical engineering using Solidworks (3D and AutoCAD (2D) software
- Experience of and ability to work to tight project deadlines
- Comfortable with the full range of computer office software applications, Word, Excel, Access
- Experience in any of the following fields, coachbuilding, chassis or commercial vehicle bodywork design, trailer chassis or demountable systems is desirable but not essential
- Good communication skills and the ability to liaise with both internal and external contacts is essential
- Have a full driving license
