The Collection Administrator will ensure that all unpaid direct debits and cancelled direct debits are actioned in a timely and cost-effective manner and targets are achieved monthly.

The role involves managing daily diary notes by chasing customer by phone and email and ensuring all conversations and email correspondence is noted on our system. You will also be required to collect any fees related to unpaid direct debits and the appointment of agents.

The Role

  • To deal appropriately with all incoming calls from customers, brokers, agents, solicitors and third parties ensuring that data protection and money laundering guidelines are always followed.
  • To make outbound calls in the course of the job ensuring that best practice and appropriate telephone manner is used on all occasions.
  • Action ARRUD (cancelled direct debits) files daily.
  • Arrears telephone calls from failed direct debits escalating to repossession calls.
  • Escalation to appointment of agents or solicitors for repossession of assets.
  • Administration and liquidation of companies, knowing and understanding what action to take and when.
  • Process credit or debit card payments using an online system
  • Ensure, legal notices and statements produced and sent out daily
  • To investigate customers and assets using all available tools i.e., internet, social media.
  • To deal with all administrative correspondence assigned to them, or as directed by the Head of Collections & Recoveries.
  • To highlight any issues relating to Direct Debit administration or system problems to the Head of Collections & Recoveries.

Experience required:

  • Demonstrable financial, analytical, and numerical skills.
  • Demonstrable writing skills.
  • Demonstrable telephone skills.
  • Previous experience in debt collection
  • Basic knowledge of Asset Finance and associated financial products.
  • Administration experience within a financial environment.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software.
  • Team player – self-motivated, a ‘can-do; attitude, a never give up approach and a drive to succeed.
  • Diligent – acute attention to detail and an investigative mind.
  • Effective time manager – ability to work to tight deadlines and manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong Communicator – able to converse at all levels.

  • Role is office based at our offices in Blackburn, but within our company agile working policy, this role will have the ability to possibly work from home for up to 1 day a week, this is though following full training and in line with business needs.
