Are you an HR professional who enjoys getting to the heart of a problem, finding practical solutions and building relationships that stand the test of time?

This is an opportunity to join an established and growing HR consultancy, supporting a diverse portfolio of businesses with the kind of commercially focused advice that makes a genuine difference.

From navigating complex employee relations matters to helping employers strengthen their people practices, you'll bring sound judgement, a pragmatic approach and the confidence to advise on a wide range of HR challenges.

This is HR consultancy as it should be.

No rigid scripts or one-size-fits-all solutions. Instead, you'll have the autonomy to think commercially, build trusted client relationships and become a valued partner to the businesses you support.

About the Opportunity

Our client is an independent HR consultancy providing expert support to businesses across a broad range of sectors. Known for its practical approach, honest advice and commitment to exceptional client service, the business works closely with employers to navigate the complexities of employment law and create stronger, more effective workplaces.

With an experienced team and a strong focus on long-term client relationships, this is an opportunity to join a business where expertise is valued, advice has real impact and no two client challenges are quite the same.

The Role

As HR Consultant, you'll become a trusted adviser to your own portfolio of clients, providing practical, commercially aware HR guidance across the full employee lifecycle.

Working closely with the Managing Director and wider HR team, you'll balance day-to-day advisory work with more complex employee relations cases, helping clients make informed decisions that protect their business while supporting their people.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Delivering expert advice: Providing clear, practical guidance on employment law, contracts, terms and conditions, policies and procedures.
  • Managing employee relations matters: Supporting clients through disciplinary, grievance, whistleblowing and other complex HR cases with confidence and sound judgement.
  • Building lasting relationships: Managing your own client portfolio and becoming a trusted point of contact for employers who value your advice.
  • Providing tailored consultancy: Meeting clients virtually and occasionally on-site to understand their challenges and recommend effective, commercially sensible solutions.
  • Welcoming new clients: Leading the onboarding process to ensure a smooth introduction to the service and a positive client experience from day one.
  • Maintaining high standards: Preparing accurate, well-considered client work and ensuring advice is delivered professionally, consistently and within agreed timescales.
  • Keeping your knowledge current: Staying up to date with changes in employment legislation and HR best practice to ensure clients receive relevant, reliable advice.

About You

You'll be an HR professional who combines technical knowledge with a practical, people-focused approach. You're comfortable dealing with sensitive situations, confident offering advice and able to balance the needs of employees with the commercial realities facing employers.

You'll ideally bring:

  • Experience in an HR advisory, HR consultancy or generalist HR role, supported by relevant HR qualifications and/or equivalent practical experience.
  • A strong understanding of UK employment law and employee relations.
  • The confidence to manage a varied caseload and make sound decisions, including in challenging or time-sensitive situations.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex matters clearly and diplomatically.
  • A commercially minded approach, with an appreciation of the wider business implications of HR decisions.
  • Strong attention to detail, organisation and the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • A collaborative attitude, a positive outlook and a good sense of humour.
