Blackburn | £28,000–£29,000 | 12-Month Fixed-Term Contract
Looking for your next step in finance? This could be right up your street!
We're working with a growing business in Blackburn that is looking to strengthen its finance team with a Finance Assistant on a 12-month fixed-term contract.
This is a hands-on, invoice-heavy role, ideal for someone who enjoys working methodically, keeping on top of the detail and making sure things run as they should.
You'll initially focus on a high volume of sales invoicing, credit notes and amendments, with responsibility for keeping processes running smoothly and dealing with queries along the way. There's also scope to get involved in other areas of transactional finance as you settle into the role.
The business is looking for someone with the right attitude and aptitude. You don't need to know everything from day one, but you'll need to be organised, accurate and keen to learn.
What will you be doing?
-
Sales invoicing: Raising a high volume of sales invoices, credit notes and amendments using the company's bespoke invoicing system.
-
Invoice processing: Monitoring the invoicing process to ensure transactions are processed accurately and efficiently.
-
Query management: Liaising with franchisees and responding to invoice queries, resolving issues in a timely and professional manner.
-
Purchase ledger: Processing supplier invoices across multiple companies and reconciling supplier statements.
-
Supplier payments: Preparing payment runs and ensuring suppliers are paid within the required deadlines.
-
Banking: Posting receipts and payments onto Sage 200.
-
Financial administration: Maintaining accurate records, keeping files and documentation up to date, and ensuring information is appropriately filed and scanned.
-
Team support: Assisting with general finance duties and providing support to colleagues across the business.
-
Compliance: Learning and following the relevant financial regulations, policies and procedures.
The role will initially be heavily focused on invoicing and established processes, with the opportunity to broaden your responsibilities as you become confident in the role.
What are we looking for?
We're keen to hear from people who have some experience in a finance or accounts environment and enjoy getting stuck into the day-to-day detail.
You'll ideally have:
-
Previous experience within a finance or accounts department.
-
Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
-
Good organisational skills and the ability to manage a high volume of transactions.
-
Confidence working with systems and processing financial information.
-
Good IT skills, particularly Microsoft Office. Sage 200 experience would be beneficial but isn't essential.
-
The ability to manage your own workload and meet deadlines.
-
A friendly, approachable manner and good communication skills.
-
A flexible, team-focused attitude and a willingness to learn.
You'll be joining a busy team with strong personalities, so being personable, adaptable and confident enough to speak up when needed will be important.
Above all, attitude is key. If you're reliable, methodical and hungry to develop your finance skills, this could be a great opportunity.
What's on offer?
-
£28,000–£29,000 salary.
-
12-month fixed-term contract.
-
25 days' annual leave.
-
Healthcare plan.
-
A lovely office environment in Blackburn.
-
A sociable team with regular socials and opportunities to celebrate birthdays and milestones.
