About the Role

We are working with a well-established financial services organisation based in Bury who are seeking a Management Accountant to join their finance team. This is a broad, hands-on role working closely with the Finance Director and supporting the wider finance function during a period of transition.

The successful candidate will take responsibility for management accounts production, financial reporting, and supporting the development of financial controls and systems. You will also play a key role in managing and developing a small team of Accounts Assistants.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate accounting records including cash book, purchase ledger, fixed asset register, and Microsoft Dynamics postings
  • Prepare monthly management accounts and MI reporting
  • Complete bank reconciliations and support valuation data preparation
  • Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes alongside the Finance Director
  • Prepare annual statutory accounts in line with accounting standards
  • Support preparation of regulatory returns including PRA, FCA, and HMRC submissions
  • Maintain and improve financial systems, processes, and internal controls
  • Work closely with senior stakeholders, including support on investment performance monitoring (in collaboration with the trainee actuary)
  • Manage, develop, and support a small team of Accounts Assistants including training, objective setting, and performance management

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Management Accountant (essential)
  • Ideally experience within financial services or a regulated environment
  • Strong knowledge of management accounts, financial reporting, and accounting principles
  • Experience using accounting systems, ideally including Microsoft Dynamics
  • Strong Excel and analytical skills
  • Experience supporting or managing a small finance team (or strong demonstrable mentoring capability)
  • Part-qualified, qualified (ACCA/CIMA), or qualified by experience considered
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to work to deadlines in a structured environment

Additional Information

  • Salary: £45,000 – £55,000 depending on experience
  • Hybrid not specified – office-based role in Bury
  • Standard working hours: 9am – 5pm
