
Operational Accountant (Part-Time, Hybrid)

💰 Salary: £15.93–£17.03 per hour (FTE £29,000–£31,000, dependent on experience)
🎓 Qualification: AAT Level 4 required
About the Role
Our client, a well-established and employee-owned organisation based in Blackburn, is seeking an experienced Operational Accountant to join their finance team. This is a varied, hands-on position ideal for someone who enjoys ownership of processes, delivering accurate financial reporting, and contributing to wider business goals in a collaborative and flexible working environment.
You’ll be responsible for managing day-to-day financial operations, including invoicing, reconciliations, and management accounts production — ensuring accuracy, insight, and efficiency across the finance function.
Key Responsibilities

Manage the purchase and sales invoicing processes end-to-end.

Prepare monthly management accounts with insightful commentary and variance analysis.

Complete balance sheet reconciliations and maintain accuracy across ledgers.

Oversee aged debt management, ensuring timely recovery of outstanding payments.

Maintain bank, credit card, and petty cash reconciliations.

Ensure VAT compliance and timely submission of returns.

Support client reporting, rate card production, and annual audit preparation.

Liaise with clients and suppliers to maintain strong professional relationships.
About You

AAT Level 4 qualified (essential).

Strong organisational and prioritisation skills.

Comfortable managing a varied workload in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Hours & Flexibility
