Senior Accounts Assistant | Blackburn | £30,000 - £32,000
Cummins Mellor are working with an established business in Blackburn who are looking to add a Senior Accounts Assistant to their finance team.
This is a busy role with a strong focus on Purchase Ledger, so you’ll need to be comfortable working with high volumes, keeping things accurate and making sure everything is dealt with on time.
Alongside the Purchase Ledger, you’ll also be involved in reconciliations and supporting the wider finance function, making this a varied role for someone who enjoys being hands-on.
The Role
- Processing a high volume of supplier invoices
- Matching invoices against purchase orders and delivery notes
- Managing supplier accounts and dealing with queries
- Requesting and reconciling supplier statements
- Supporting month end and keeping the Purchase Ledger accurate and up to date
- Monitoring outstanding invoices and supporting GRNI
- Assisting with BACS payment runs
- Completing regular reconciliations and investigating any differences
- Supporting supplier queries and returns
- Assisting with year end and audit requirements
- Providing support across the wider finance team
- Identifying opportunities to improve processes and efficiency
- Ad hoc finance duties as required
What we’re looking for
- Previous experience within Purchase Ledger, Accounts Assistant or a similar transactional finance role
- Comfortable working with high volumes of invoices and transactions
- Experience of supplier account management and reconciliations
- Good attention to detail and a methodical approach
- Confident using Microsoft Excel and finance systems
- Able to manage your own workload and work to deadlines
- Someone who takes ownership and is happy to investigate and resolve issues
- A proactive approach with an interest in improving processes
