Runcorn | £30,000–£40,000 | Office-based
Fancy being part of building something from the ground up?
This is an opportunity to join a growing business at a genuinely exciting point in its journey. With ambitious growth plans and plenty of opportunity to make an impact, the business is looking for a hands-on Senior AP professional who enjoys getting stuck in, sorting things out and making a real difference.
This isn't a case of walking into a perfectly polished department and keeping things ticking over. There's work to do, processes to improve and plenty of scope to put your own stamp on things. For the right person, that's exactly where the appeal lies.
What will you be doing?
You'll take ownership of the day-to-day accounts payable function, helping to bring structure, improve processes and ensure everything runs as smoothly and efficiently as possible.
Working closely with senior finance leaders and the wider business, you'll have the opportunity to make improvements, influence how things are done and play a key part in the team's ongoing development.
Your responsibilities will include:
-
Taking ownership of day-to-day accounts payable activities.
-
Reviewing existing processes, identifying gaps and putting better ways of working in place.
-
Managing supplier invoices, reconciliations, queries and payment runs.
-
Supporting the administration of subcontractor payments, CIS and VAT where applicable.
-
Improving processes, controls and accuracy across accounts payable.
-
Taking an active role in shaping and improving the AP function.
As the business grows, so will the opportunity. There's genuine scope to take on more responsibility and progress towards a management position over time.
What are we looking for?
We're interested in someone who knows their way around accounts payable but, just as importantly, has the attitude to take ownership and make things happen.
You might be an experienced Senior Purchase Ledger Clerk, Senior Accounts Payable Specialist or someone already taking the lead within a small team who's ready for their next step.
Ideally, you'll bring:
-
Solid experience across accounts payable or purchase ledger.
-
AAT studies or a relevant qualification, or be qualified by experience (QBE).
-
A practical, hands-on approach and the confidence to get stuck into problems.
-
Strong organisational skills and an eye for detail.
-
The ability to spot where processes aren't working and suggest improvements.
-
A proactive, adaptable approach and the confidence to use your own initiative.
-
The ability to build relationships with stakeholders across finance and the wider business.
Experience with CIS and VAT would be a bonus, but it isn't essential. This isn't a qualified finance role, so practical experience, attitude and potential are just as important as formal qualifications.
Why consider it?
-
Make your mark: An opportunity to influence processes and help shape how things are done.
-
Be part of the growth: Join a business with ambitious plans and plenty happening.
-
Room to progress: Develop your responsibilities and work towards a future management role.
-
Senior-level exposure: Work closely with senior finance leaders and have a genuine voice in the business.
-
Variety and ownership: A hands-on role where you can take initiative, solve problems and see the difference you're making.
The details
-
Salary: £30,000–£40,000, depending on experience
-
Location: Runcorn
-
Working pattern: Office-based, five days a week
