Own it. Grow it. Make it your own.
Our client is looking for a high-energy, commercially driven Service Operations Manager to take full ownership of their Service and Aftersales function.
This isn't a role where you'll simply manage an existing operation. You'll be responsible for growing the revenue stream, developing the team, improving performance and strengthening customer relationships — with the freedom to identify opportunities and make things happen.
The Service function has real potential to grow, and they're looking for someone who is genuinely excited by that challenge.
The role
- You'll take ownership of the full Service operation, including the service team and mobile engineering function.
- Your focus will be on growth and performance.
- You'll identify opportunities to increase service and maintenance revenue, develop contracts, improve customer retention and grow existing accounts.
- At the same time, you'll drive improvements across the operation — from engineer utilisation and productivity through to first-time fix rates, processes, systems and customer service.
- You'll also have responsibility for the commercial performance of the function, with a clear understanding of revenue, margins, costs and profitability.
In simple terms: take ownership, build the team, improve the operation and grow the business.
Who are we looking for?
This is where we're less interested in your job title and more interested in what you've actually done.
We're looking for someone who has made a service operation better.
You might have inherited a team that wasn't performing, introduced new processes, improved utilisation, increased revenue, developed customer contracts or simply turned an underperforming function into something much stronger.
What matters is that you can demonstrate ownership, energy and results.
You'll be someone who:
- Takes ownership – you don't wait to be told what needs doing.
- Drives growth – you naturally look for ways to increase revenue and develop customers.
- Leads from the front – you bring energy, set the standard and get the best from your team.
- Challenges the status quo – if something isn't working, you fix it.
- Thinks commercially – you understand that revenue, margin and customer service all matter.
- Gets close to customers – you're comfortable picking up the phone, getting in front of them and building relationships.
- Uses data – you want to know what is happening, why it's happening and what you're going to do about it.
- Wants to build something – you're motivated by seeing a team and operation improve because of your input.
You don't need to come from transport refrigeration. Experience within engineering, automotive, manufacturing, field service or another service-led environment could be equally relevant.
What we're really looking for is a driven service leader who sees an opportunity and wants to run with it.
What’s in it for you?
- Competitive salary – circa £45-50K + bonus
- Pension
- In Office role, Working hours – are flexible to suit the individual, early finish Friday
- 24 days holiday + 8BH
- You'll have the opportunity to shape the function, develop the people, grow the revenue and make a visible difference to the wider business.
If you're ambitious, commercially minded and the type of person who gets frustrated when things could be better — and then does something about it — we'd like to hear from you.
